Pyramid Mt. – Hiking

Date Hiked: 16 October 2023

Distance: 3.19 miles

Elevation: 1,756 ft

Difficulty: Hard

Features: Progressive rolling hills, very steep rock scramble, dramatic summit, short ridge line.

Description: Hiked this one on a cloudy day with very low clouds blanketing the mountains. However, there were small breaks, giving us a stunning view of the layers of clouds covering the surrounding neighboring mountains. It felt magical throughout the hike, like we were walking in the sky. While hiking you can eat crow berries, enjoy a light stream, and explore old ski tow rope equipment from mny decades ago. The final push to the summit is essentially an easy vertical rock climb. The summit has a short ridge line to walk on with epic, dramatic cliffs on either side.

The trailhead for Pyramid Mt. is in a large empty parking lot across from the Ski Chalet, about five miles down Anton Larsen. This is not a good trail for people afraid of heights, but I love heights, so it was great. The summit features views of the water, Barometer Mt, Sharatin Mt, and other mountains. It is certainly, a shorter hike than the other seven summits, but a beautiful challenge. In the winter I have skinned up to the flats before the final steep summit section and skied down in an area called Jibber Bowl. It is a unique winter wonderland in the winter.
